Life on Tilt - Audio Book (posted June 29 @ 12:30 PM ET)
First of all, my apologies for not being more diligent about posting blogs. I'm not a blogger by nature, so this is a bit new for me. Thanks for letting me know going two weeks between posts is bad etiquette!
Okay, so what have I been doing besides not blogging, you ask? I had a number of wonderful appearances in upstate NY as the Borders stores in that area helped promote the book in conjunction with Father's Day. I had a great time meeting many folks at the Rotterdam (Hi Brian!), Saratoga (Hi Rick!) and Clifton Park (Hi Julie!) Borders...particularly playing the "Poker Challenge" with customers.
I also had a chance to give my first talk at a library, meet the first book club to choose Tilt as its monthly selection and do a TV appearance. A recent highlight unrelated to the book was delivering a brief talk at my high school's commencement ceremony. It was the 25th anniversary of my commencement from the same school, making it an extra special event.
This week marks two exciting developments for the book. Tomorrow we are releasing the audio book on cdbaby.com and it will be showing up on iTunes, Napster, Amazon and other digital outlets by mid-July. The book is read by yours truly and my voice - honed by decades of DJ experience - was tested by all the dialects in the book. "Cowboy" Kenna James not only read his foreword, but also contributed an original song, "Dream This Dream", which is a fantastic complement to the book. He is a rising star in the music world and I'm thrilled to feature this composition in the book.
Also this week, I'll be in Las Vegas at the Gaming Life Expo, which is concurrent with the multiple day ones for this year's World Series of Poker Main Event. Last year, 50,000 people attended this poker-themed trade show. Tilt will be featured at the Best Poker Stuff booth and Kenna & I hope to visit as many booths as possible to meet the fans.
Be sure to reach out and share your reaction to the book.
All the best and keep in touch,
John
